About the Event

In this session, Dr. Tabitha Maiorano draws on her extensive experience working with first responders, veterans, and trauma survivors, to discuss trauma-informed therapy techniques like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and how they support individuals with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and co-occurring mental health challenges. This session will also cover our approach to Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for crisis response, highlighting the essential roles of compassion and resilience in trauma recovery.

Meet the Presenter Dr. Tabatha Maiorano

Dr. Tabatha Maiorano, PhD, LCSW, LADC, BCD, has over 22 years of experience in mental health, working across psychiatric, forensic, and community settings. She holds multiple certifications, including Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Co-Occurring Disorder Professional, and Certified Traumatic Brain Injury Specialist, with a PhD in Public Safety Leadership from Capella University.

Clinical Interests and Specializations

Dr. Maiorano specializes in treating mental health and substance use disorders, trauma, and traumatic brain injuries. She is trained in Person-Centered Planning and therapies such as EMDR, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, focusing on individualized care for diverse client needs.

Dr. Maiorano served over 18 years with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, including as a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) clinician working with law enforcement. She is now the owner of TD Forensics, LLC, where she provides specialized training and consulting for first responders.

She is active in mental health support for first responders and volunteers with organizations like the Red Cross and Brain Injury Association of CT. In her free time, Dr. Maiorano enjoys the outdoors and traveling.
