About the Event

This session examines the medical, functional, and rehabilitative complexities associated with amputations resulting from work-related injuries. Presented by Erin Watson, D.O., a board-certified physiatrist and expert witness, the discussion is grounded in her extensive experience in amputee care, spinal rehabilitation, and functional recovery. Dr. Watson is a partner physician at Pioneer Spine and Sports Physicians and serves as Medical Director at Bronson Rehabilitation.

The session addresses both acute and long-term rehabilitation needs following occupational amputations, including prosthetic integration, pain and spasticity management, functional limitations, and return-to-work planning. Emphasis is placed on coordinated, multidisciplinary rehabilitation strategies, realistic functional outcome assessment, and key medico-legal considerations related to disability determination, future medical needs, and life care planning. Attendees gain practical insight into how comprehensive physiatric oversight supports recovery, promotes independence, and contributes to defensible case evaluation.
