Meet the Presenter Dr. Jacob Drew

Dr. Jacob Drew is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in Hip and Knee Replacement. He completed his residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at OrthoCarolina Hip and Knee Center. Dr. Drew has held roles such as Director of Arthroplasty Research at the Medical University of South Carolina and Chief of the Division of Arthroplasty at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he taught within the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program.

Clinical Interests and Specializations

Dr. Drew treats a range of hip and knee conditions, offering both non-operative options like injections and physical therapy, and surgical solutions including minimally invasive joint replacement. He is also skilled in revision arthroplasty for patients with complex joint replacement needs and performs surgery in various settings to best accommodate patient preferences.

He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS).

Dr. Kumar provides compassionate, personalized, patient directed care to all of his patients. He has a strong understanding of the effect chronic pain can have on a person’s physical, as well as emotional, wellbeing. He puts a large emphasis on communication and believes in a multifaceted approach to alleviating pain including interventions, medication management when appropriate, and active forms of therapy. A comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan is instituted for every patient, using the most cutting edge, current, evidence-based techniques. His goal for every patient is to alleviate pain so patients can improve functionality and return to the activities they once enjoyed.
