Assessing the home

Preparing your client and their life care plan to return home after a catastrophic injury or illness

Original Release Date: May 10, 2023

A catastrophic injury is, by definition, a life changing event. Individuals can sometimes spend weeks or even months in a hospital or rehabilitation center. While in the facilities, an individual learns to manage their disability and limitation in a controlled accessible environment. But, what happens when they are ready to go home? Is their home ready for them?

In this webinar, participants will:

• Learn how to effectively assess the home and identify areas that will be a challenge for the clients

• Explore the common household fixtures and setups to identify the obstacles that will prevent a person from being independent in their home environment.

• Learn how to plan for the required modifications and the cost associated with those modifications.

• Learn how to find and work with contractors and best practices for efficiently communicating the individual’s needs and project expectations.
